How It All Started...
2011 was the dawn of a new era for Downtown Springfield. A temporary ordinance was granted allowing beer, (yes, the alcoholic beverage) to be served and consumed (gasp!) on Park Central Square for Oktoberfest Village at Taste of Springfield.
The ordinance was progressive, the event was a success, and the door was opened for more fun and suds on the square. With the success of Oktoberfest, 2012 ushered in a new concept for downtown, Craft Beer Bash.
Springfield Brewing Co. had been open and brewing beer for years, and Mother's Brewing had just recently debuted on the edge of downtown.
Craft Beer was becoming all the rage, across Missouri and in our Queen City. Consumers were thirsty and curious.
In an effort to develop unique community events and continue promoting great programming for center city, Craft Beer Bash was lead by Springfield Craft Beer Week at the end of July.
The inaugural year in 2012 brought rave reviews and a craving for more. The event has evolved over the last several years and now boasts over 100 craft beers to sample at Craft Beer Bash. Come early, sample carefully, and enjoy local, regional, and nationally recognized craft beer goodness. Cheers!
